Ruins of Varsoon: Revealing the Entrance  

This quest can drive you nuts if you play solo, because you can get it fairly early, but have no real idea how to complete it until levels later, when it's gone grey.

As others have said, the entrance is in the south-east corner of The Thundering Steppes. Your shortest approach is probably from the south-east griffon tower, whether you have griffon access or not.

The entrance is in the south wall, at /loc -493.99, 0.65, +1034.22

If you're new, these are map coordinates. Enter the command /loc (for "location") in game to compare your character's current position to where you're trying to go.

Soloists be warned, there are lots of undead and related monsters roaming about on the way to the entrance! This is another one of those EQ2 quests where getting to the location requires you to be higher-level than the quest itself. Not such a big deal if you're in a group, but even my solo lvl 32 Templar had to watch his step.

Once you stand at the entrance a few seconds, the quest should complete and tell you to return to Zaen for the next bit.

I did not get any message or key when I killed the fury and I have this quest. Zaen wont talk to me still. Can anyone confirm did this change?

The "An Archaic Fury" is spawned on the hall between Vegalys Keldrane and
80, 6.83, -60

killing all the "a deathly scrarab" in the hall should cause him to spawn, unless he is wandering about already.

I sold that key :(...is there no way i can start books quest now?

Where the heck do I find Zaen? I think I'm done the quest but forget where he is. It says Vermin's Snye, but I only remember any NPC's at the entrance. Help anyone?

terrible directions on location of this Archaic Fury. i've walked the whole dungeon an not come to +80 -60, who submitted this bad location?

This explanation skips a vital step. after you hail him, you *HAVE* to go to Thunderous steps and visit the backdoor to the Ruins of varsoon. it is near the two pits close to Varsoon near the gleaming goblins. Then you go back to this guy hail him THEN you get to kill the Arch Fury.
