This heritage quest is given by Yoru the Old( -1814, -38, -519 ) at Windstalker Village in Antonica. You must be level 40 or higher to receive the quest. The reward is the Flowing Black Silk Sash.
The first order of business is to harvest 10 pieces of severed maple in Antonica. You forest these from Wind Felled Trees, which can be found nearby Windstalker Vilage. This requires 20+ Foresting Skill. If you don't have 20+ skill you can gain it by foresting in tier 1 zones. After doing this return to Yoru the Old. (if you tell him to get his own food when you return to him you'll have to restart the HQ)
He will then send you to create some Sunfish Casserole. This requires you to do some crafting. You will need to get your Artisan skills to level 9. You can then purchase artisan essentials volume 9 from a Crafting Trainer in a tradeskill building and create the Casserole. You will need to harvest or buy one sunfish, one root, and 2 basic kindling. If you want to gather your own you can harvest both easily in the Oakmyst Forest. After creating the Sunfish casserole you must bring it to Yoru the Old.
The next step is to retrieve some ale for him. This is a timed step. You must run to a tavern in 15 minutes and grab the Ale by clicking the keg at -725, -16, 231 in Antonica. This is along the road, just before the two towers on the way to Qeynos. After that you get a new 15 minute timer to run back. The run only takes about 4 minutes if you know where you're going, so don't worry too much about it.
Yoru will then ask you to sit (use the /sit command) and meditate with him. Shortly after this (about 2-3 minutes) you will be jumped by a group of four level 41 highwaymen. Kill them and then speak to Yoru again.
You must now visit Cythan in The Feerrott. He is in the southwest corner of the zone at -0.22, 26, 963 . It is important that everyone in the group speak with him at the same time. After speaking with him a ring event starts, and you have 5 minutes to complete it. Unaggro Spirit Monks will keep spawning one at a time, a total of nine of them. These are solo mobs that range from level 40 to level 42 in difficulty. After you kill one another one will spawn. After you have slain nine monks, a Spirit Master will spawn. After killing him you can speak to Cythan to receive the next step.
The next step is to kill several spirits in various zones. You must speak to an NPC first to spawn the spirit, and then kill the spirit. They are found at:
Feerrott: Speak to Tarnis at -1870, -22, 749 (in the Gulch of Thule near the Dread Basin mount station) who will spawn Sartar the Unrivaled (has a knockback)
After doing all of this you return to Cythan and speak to him (if grouped, one person at a time). Cythan will then despawn and a minute later he will return as Cythan the Last (level 45^^^) and attack you. You must defeat him--watch out for his knockback. When he dies the original Cythan will respawn and will remain there for one hour before respawning.
Players doing this quest solo can simply speak to Cythan and click the rock behind him ( -1,26,966 ) to complete the quest.
If you are doing this as a group, the person who just killed Cythan the Last must first speak with this version of Cythan and then click the rock behind him to complete the quest and receive their Flowing Black Silk Sash. The next person in line will then talk to Cythan which will respawn Cythan the Last. Rinse and repeat until the entire group has received their sashes.
Sartar the Unrivaled was 42^^^ Oodan the Tranquil was 43^^^ Borbin the Prevailer was 43^^^ Brother Raster was 44^^^
Cythan was a 45^^^ in the final fight.
They all had VERY strong earthquake and throw spells so be careful and for Raster it is best you run and have him chase you down to the bottom of the tower so you wont get thrown to your death from that height.
Done tonight with a 45th Fury and a 53rd assassin. No major issues. Seriously watch out for the knockback though, or they'll boot you into a mess of trouble.
Oh. Yeah, the ale keg was a pain. First floor of the tavern near Qeunos farms.
hailing tarnis and sartak doesnt want to spawn :/ He says Cowardice cannot be hidden in combat. You only learn who you truly are in the heat of combat and I can only answer I will remember that...
Hi for the basil deer part when they redid the crafting its now a sunfish casserole. all you need is a sunfish and some roots from tier 1 and some walnut kindely to make it.
Did most of this solo as a 51 SK. Mobs were green ^^^ at 51.
The hardest guy to kill was the monk in EL. Closest I got to killing him solo was dying when he was at 5% and I ran out of power. I would have beaten him if I had a few more ticks of power for lifetaps, or if HT would have critted.
Three of the four monk encounters were easy in terms of finding a spot to back up into to avoid knockback, except, of course, the dreaded EL encounter. After being tossed around like a rag doll, I found that it was easier if I position myself at the edge of the cliff, with my back to the water. That way his knockback sends me flying safely into the ocean. After that, the knockback effect does not affect you when you are swimming. Make sure your groupmates know if you will do this so you dont end up soloing him in the water.
After dying to him, he would stick around for about 5 minutes. If he was not attacked within 5 minutes, he would despawn. Respawn time was about 90 minutes.
Definately had to go defensive for him, and whip out the shield. He hits hard and fast, and avoids well. Bastard.
And you can't just buy the fish casserole and hand it to him either!
Duo'ed most of it with 44/45 Brigand and a 45 Warden. We could not take down the monk in the Enchanted Lands! He could kill me when I was still at 10% and he was at 0%, then turn around and two-hit kill the Warden. That and I kept slipping off the tree I was wedged against.
Repeated the quest from the meditation part with a 44 Wizard and it took about 2 hours. We did the timed hails (thanks for the suggestion/reminder Xerg) and we all got Cythan together, though he did try to hide in the rocks.
the highwaymen spawn about 1-2 minutes after Yoru asks you to meditate with him. If you lose to the group of highwaymen for some reason, you can get them to respawn again by hailing yoru, then sitting down. after about 1-2 minutes, they will spawn and aggro the quester.
appears that they have fixed the buggy highwaymen spawn
I saw this quest and picked it up , the spirits can get hard , depending on ur class , the hardest part however is killing cythan the last and waiting the longest hour in your life.
We ran a group through this with a couple of guildmates that needed FBSS. We only did the last part once. We had both people that needed it say 'I have all four.' and then click 'I am ready' nearly simultaneously. Cythan the Last spawned, and we killed him and they both hailed Cythan and completed the quest with just one 'the Last' kill.
oh thats "druid" btw. Anyway, the one for Ferrott is the river the heads towards CT, just follow it till the big lake and you should find em. the one for rivervale was on the left wallwhen you zone in from EL but for more precise directions *(monk)
|---------------- *(you)---------------| hes up on the cliff near a tree
For the tranquil monk or whatever his name is, press "M" on your keyboard and look directly to the top when you zone in and are standing on the docks, there should be a driud ring lookin symbol up there. head to the symbol but when your map tells you your on it look to your right, for those idiots out there its this way! -> and look for em by a tree
Hasc, try positioning yourself with your back to the wall, that way if he kicks you, you'll just be kicked into the wall and not off the tower. Also, bring some friends to kill him faster, and he'll have less chance to kick you before he dies. =)
Server nagafen (pvp) i got 2 monks one from feerot and one from Rivervale the one i dont get how to kill is the one in zek when u hit him on top of that big hill he kicked me a quarter off the mountain and i would always fall anyone know how to avoid falling off cause when the monks kick they can kick far
well... regarding the 20 minute spawn time I can confirm that Oodan is EXACTLY 20 minute respawn, and as the gentleman said earlier Brother Raster(Zan Filis - Zek) takes 35-40 minutes.
Oodan was just killed by another group right as I got there, so had to wait for respawn. Later the same day I helped some friends when they were killed by Raster several times and he despawned.
I am a 51 SK and solo'd all but Oodan and Cythan. For Oodan I was joined by a 52 Bruiser and a 45 Assassin, and for Cythan me and a 62 Zerk from my guild wasted him (spanked him like a 3 yr old at Kmart)
Finished this up last night; did the first three Spirits with myself (46 Fury), 46 Wiz, and a 49 Monk. Then for the last spirit and Cythan the Last it was 46 Fury, 46 Wiz, 49 Guardian, and 49 Templar. With this group the last spirit was a snap after the second try. I got knocked clear off the tower and died on the cliff across the ravine on the opposite side =0. Then it was on to Cythan who had a ton of hp and burned us down to our last bit of power at the end, but he did go down.... our battle with him took us almost 6 minutes and he had almost 49k hp. So if you are sub lvl 50, be prepared for a long battle and conserve your power as much as possible.
On the final step after defeating Cythan the Last, two of us needed the quest update obtained by hailing the respawned NPC Cythan. We both timed our hails with him, clicking the next button at the same time, then clicking the now selectable rock behind him at the same time and were both rewarded with the quest completion and the Flowing Black Silk Sash.
Just a quick one, should you dedide to be really clever and prepare your basil grilled steak first, to save a journey, don't bother. You have to craft it during that stage of the quest. (this also means that buying from the broker doesn't work either...)
found this out today when I tried to be smart...
Jharek... Runnyeye Server (what no drop-down for Runnyeye?)
Finished this one last night. My 50th Berserk soloed it through Borbin. I was joined by two rangers (40 & 41) for Oodan, and was accompanied by the higher of the two for Sartar, Raster and we did Borbin again. We actually tried to time our hails to Cythan but that didn't work and we did the 'rinse and repeat.'
It was soloable exept for the the knockbacks. Wow, talk about a football at a kick off! This meant I could not use my 'Offending Defence' either. I would just get knocked off of the trees. With Raster I used the alcove right there in his cliff and he couldn't budge me. Borbin I used the the steep hill and kept adjusting. And with Cythan, I used the open space between the rocks, and that worked the best. The rest just got to throw me around a lot.
Finished this quest tonight 12/23/05 this quest is pretty simple if you follow it start to finish according to guide. Watch out for the sattar monks though I don't know if it was a recent update but o man those sattar monks will knockback hard. I was laughing so hard I was crying watching our dwarf guardian tank getting punted like a football everywhere. Make sure to brace against the side of a wall or a tree so you don't go flying off.
As of today, the 20 minute retimer is in question. We got beat by Brother Raster's mark (Zan Filis - Zek) and he despawned after our run back to kill him (up for only about 10 min). He took 35 minutes to respawn.
The rest were all up, so I can't comment about the respawn for them.
Did the 4 monks part in under an hour with 2 50s 2 45s and a 47...no healer. Monks went easy, respawn in 20 minutes thanks to update 17. Cyphan respawns instantly, took about 20 minutes for all of us to kill him...easy!
No need to call back to qeynos/freeport for the ale timer part of this quest. You have plenty of time to make the run. I did it with a beserker without any run buffs and still had over 5 min left. So save your 60sp.
Short warning: The Feerrott & RV monks were up for my group, and they both despawned at the same time. They're apparently on the same despawn timers - not sure about the EL and Zek ones, as we killed Zan just before and the EL monk wasn't up.
I fought all 4 of the guys before cythan last night, there levels are now. Enchanted Lands = 43^^^ Rivervale = 44^^^ Feerrott = 44^^^ Zek = 44^^^ this is what I got for levels of them to beat.
im on the cook the grilled deer meat part and i have the book scribed but i cant seem to make the meat i tried to see if i could buy it and it wasnt up for sale on the broker anyone have any idea whats wrong?
