Alabaster for the Mages

I killed over 60 Alabaster Behemoths but never did get a single quest update from them. I wouldn't bother trying to get the update from these mobs.

I did get all of the 5 chunks of alabaster from the lower level Alabaster Golems, and it only took 15 kills to get the required quest updates.

I can't vouch for Atramentor updating the quest, as I can't solo him (yet).

I can 100% Confirm the monsters that drop this item.

Alabaster Golems (Floor One/Two)
Alabaster Behomoths (Floor Three)

Beware as I've had to kill alot of Alabastas to get a drop. So Many infact I've got all Five Pieces of the Golem Mastery. The most common drops for a Alabasta to drop are.

Laborer's Vest (5% Drop Chance)
Boots (Worth 1sp) (25% Drop Chance)
Bronze Tulwar (10% Drop Chance)
Laberer's Cap (4% Drop Chance)

The quest starter item 'a chuck of alabaster' dropped off of 'Atramentor' today. Never has dropped it before tho.

Chest drop only item. Has no flags so it can be traded or sold. Gotten every time off of 'an alabaster golem' on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Never dropped for me in the named rock monster area.

This quest is initiated by examining a Chunk of Alabaster. This item is dropped on monsters in the Caves (Alabaster Golems and Atramentor confirmed).

Turn the Alabaster in to Elspeth Astley in South Qeynos at 730, -20, 116 for coin and experience.
