This quest is given by Rath'Adran in Zek, the Orcish Wastes. He is found in a tower at the docks. It is the old access quest for Everfrost. Rath'Adran will not give you this quest unless you are level 32 or higher.
The first thing you will need to do is speak to Biddy Bobick in the Enchanted Lands. You can find Biddy at 49.88, 1.83, 35.84 in a building at the docks. Biddy will assign you the Of Sea, Sails and Slumber quest. You must complete this sub-quest before you can progress any further in the Crossing of the Fanged Sea quest.
Once you have completed the Of Sea, Sails and Slumber quest, you should return to Zek to speak to Rath'Adran in the tower. He tells you that you must collect Part A and Part B to Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Disruptor.
The Part A and Part B to Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Disruptor are two separate items. One of these is located at the Tagglefoot Farms in Enchanted Lands, inside of the barn at -777, -1, -653 . The other at an orc encampment, inside of a tent in Zek at -198, -27, -94 . This is the same area that Vatook Masher spawns, so be prepared to fight him if he spawns.
The respawn time of the disruptors is about 1 minute, and each person in a group will have to pick theirs up separately.
After doing this you must return and speak to Rath'Adran in Zek, the Orcish Wastes. After you get your update, head to the World Bell on the Zek docks and choose the travel map option to go to The Fanged Sea. This is an instanced zone that takes place on a ship, much as previous access quests have.
Once you get on the boat you should take positions near Rath'Adran. Have one person in the group speak to him to initiate the event.
During the entire ship ride you need to keep cranking the two machines on either side of the ship (the bow and the stern). These must be cranked at least once every 45 seconds throughout the event. If these are not cranked in time then they will need wiped off and restarted, which makes extra skeleton adds pop. Running back and forth cranking the two is the best way to do this.
You will face several waves of monsters, starting at level 38 and ending in level 40. The waves are relatively easy. After clearing them the real challenge presents itself though, as Rath'Adran takes form as a dragon. He is a level 42 ^^ mob with an area effect breath attack. Rath'Adran will fly away at 20%.
Once he has been defeated you can click the wheel of the ship to teleport into Everfrost and finish the quest. Congratulations!
You can now speak to Scholar Milnik in the Thundering Steppes for item rewards, now that the the access quest no longer needs to be completed.
I have allied with an erudite scholar named Rath'Adran. Together we will find what is needed to safely navigate the deadly waters leading northward, the waters called the Fanged Sea. What lies beyond that is a mystery.
Stage 1
I must go to the Enchanted Lands and seek out the nautical journal of the legendary halfling Fiddy Bobick.
Start:
Seek out information of Bobick in the Enchanted Lands.
Complete:
Discovered the nautical journal of Fiddy Bobick.

Return to Zek and speak to Rath'Adran.
Complete:
Spoke to Rath'Adran.
I returned to the Orcish Wastes with the both of Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Converters.
Stage 5
It is time to sail through the Fanged Sea and onward to Everfrost! The boat leaves from the Thundering Steppes Docks.
Start:
Survive the perils of the Fanged Sea to reach Everfrost.
Complete:
Survived the perils of the Fanged Sea. I should speak to Milnik in the Thundering Steppes about a reward.
I was forced to fight Rath'Adran who turned into a Drakota and tried to slay the crew. Perhaps I can use the journal to navigate to the Everfrost.
Rath'Adran was a shape shifting Drakota! He must have been using us to gain entry into Everfrost. Why would such a powerful beast rely on trickery and mortal alliance to gain entry to the lost world of the ancient barbarian clans? I should speak to Milnik in the Thundering Steppes about a reward.
Did this quest up to getting the tinmizers and speaking to the guy in Zek who tells you to ring the bell when ready. The bells are no longer there as access to Everfrost is now open. You can still access the quest on board the ship by clicking on the "Fanged Sea" location on the map given by using the "Travel through Norrath" Globe. I tried the method described of ignoring the skeletons and just pulling the maidens on the far side of the boat away from Rath. This works and they are pretty easy for a level 48 soloing. However, slip more than an inch or two off the prow (front) of the ship and you are toast if those skeletons are still green to you!
This quest is sooooo buggy. About as close to being broken as I have seen in EQ2 so far. *But* I did manage to solo it tonight as a 50 melee Warden. As others have pointed out earlier, the step where you have to find parts A and B are completely bugged as you do not have to enter the tower, but they are in fact found in both EL and Zek. Once you have the pieces, you head off to TS for the dreaded boat sequence.
As far as I can make out from what has been posted, originally the goal of this mission was to keep the two orbs going to prevent undead from flooding onto the boat. Unfortunately, this functionality is what is completely broken. There is no way to prevent the undead from flooding onto the boat, and thusly, there is no point to interacting with the orbs at all. Just completely ignore them.
To solo it, here's what I did. Used a Jaguar totem to sneak over to the other side of the boat (the bow of the boat.) Once on the other side, back all the way as far as you can against edge of the boat, and start pulling the birdwomen in.
You should be able to freely fight them including using AE's without getting aggro from the skeletons. If you pull aggro from the skeletons, you are going to die. Keep killing the bird women until they are all dead (they are regular level 38 Mobs, grey to me at 50.)
Once you have killed all of the bird women, the captain walks down to the middle of the boat and turns into a wyrm. He also cannot see invis, so if you need to rest up, I recommend using stealth to do so before pulling him.
When you are ready, pull him against the bow as you did with the bird women. He was a 43^^^ easily soloable with a 50 melee Warden (last level the quest is still green.) He did not have any exceptional powers, but hit me for about 250 a shot. Once he is dead, you get quest completion and can either telport out or invis past the skellies and use the ship's wheel to go to Everfrost.
You get a good chunk of XP and regular achievement advancement for completing the quest. You also get a Warm Winds weapon from Scholar Milnik on the Docks in TS.
I looked this quest up when I did it with my main, so yes, A and B are in Zek(in an orc tent near the mines) and EL (at that dwarf sister farm near the NBs off the coast)
Did the Quest change? I was told that part A and part B where in the Drafling Tower, but I read here that its in EL and Zek. Where do I have to go to get this done??
One thing to note that is often left out on sites such as these is that almost every mob you must encounter is HEROIC. On the ship, except for the first two or three Galebreaker Maidens, all of the skeletons and all of the mobs are 38-40^^^ Heroic.
Furthermore, trying this quest today my group and I died because the machines would not wind.
This quest is bugged. Skeletons spawn every 15 seconds and the ice breaker machines stop even if wound more often than every 20 seconds.
It is not unbeatable though as long as the skeltons are grey and you are consentrating on the valkyries. The boss spawns after killing about 5 waves of valkyries.
Contrary to the advice provided by the other players, I stubbornly tried to solo the boat ride as a 45 Conjurer. All the mobs are 38-41-ish Heroics. The first wave is cake, but then they really start spawning. And they don't stop. After I died I watched for about a minute or two and they just kept right on spawning. I couldn't believe how many there were before I clicked revive. My advice is to heed the warnings and definitely bring a couple of friends on this one.
I let this quest slide for a long time since access quests are no longer needed and just finally ended up doing it last night as a L63 Guardian. The mobs on this thing are completely out of control. There were 10 groups of 20 each Ice Fright skelies that spawned almost immediately even though I kept the machines running the whole time. If they had not been greyed out then there would have been no possible way to solo this at any where near the recommended level of 40. Plus as soon as I cleared a mob it would respawn another in it's place. I finally just ignored the adds and went directly after the dragon Rath'Adran and the quest dinged. Once I dinged it I decided to try some more of the adds and they still would just continually respawn. I finally gave up once my inventory was overflowing but I could have gone on forever and never would have cleared them all. As it was I made over a plat in loot and could have made more had I had the space for it all. Not that the loot was anything special there was just so much of it due to the number of mobs
At 49 with 40 ranger hiding and cranking the machine on the stern of the ship, I couldnt even cast to save my life with about 10 mobs and more coming beating on me for 20-50 points each. Now if it was 5 at a time I could handle that.
I think this quest is bugged. Why should I need a group to solo green mobs?
Why should I need a graphics card that can handle 20+ mobs on the ship?
They should fix the quest in-game. It still says you have to go to the Drafling Tower which I had done. Nothing updated. They should allow for both zones since the quest still says to go there.
We tried this boatride twice last night and had the same problems that Shadclow describes below. We repeatedly wound the frost disruptors, but it didn't seem to matter - within the first minute of the battle, we had four or five white and yellow mobs on us, maybe 15-20 total enemies on the boat deck, and we wiped each time.
Our group is levels 40-43 and we're a strong fighting unit. This was no ragtag pickup group that went in clueless. Given that you get automatic access at 42, it's ridiculous that this boatride is so hard - IMO it's just not feasible for a normal group of late 30s / early 40s characters. You'd have to have a few 45s along just to gray out some of the added mobs, and that should be a clear sign that something is wrong. Hope SOE fixes the auto-spawned mobs, b/c it's not working as intended right now.
Confirmed - Tinmizer's no longer appears as a subquest. You could copy this portion of the Tinmizer quest into the Description here :
"Basically you must collect Part A and Part B to Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Disruptor. One of these is located at the Tagglefoot Farm in Enchanted Lands, inside of the building (-777, -1, -653) and the other at an orc encampment, inside of a tent in Zek (-198, -27, -94). This is the same area that Vatook Masher spawns, so be prepared to fight him if he spawns.
This step is relatively easy compared to what you have faced previously to this point of the Crossing of the Fanged Sea quest. It is annoying however, because each person in the group must collect the piece from both Zek and Enchanted Lands. This piece has about a one minute respawn. Which basically means that you will head to the Device, clear all of the bad guys, and then sit around and wait for all of the respawns to take place so that everyone can have their piece. It would have made more sense to have it work for the entire group at once, or not have given it a respawn time. Regardless though, this is what you have to do. EDITORS NOTE: The spawn time was recently cut from 5 minutes to 1 minute, which makes the quest a bit less annoying."
Tinmizer B can be obtained in EL -779, -1, -653. Update goes direct to Crossing of the Fanged Sea. It disappers after touch but respawn is really short (<5min)
I can also confirm, last night we finished this quest and you did NOT have to go to the Tower and the Tinmizer quest was NOT a sub quest in my journal. The journal never moved from the "Crossing for the Fanged Sea" quest.
The boat ride seems highly bugged at the moment, making completion of the quest pretty difficult without high lvl help. On first try we got 3 groups of mob lvl 38-40 spawn within the first 30 seconds of fight. On second try we had a lvl 50 to grey out most of the stuff, but had 4 or 5 encounters within one minute including lvl 41 ones (not grey, the rest of the group was 41-38 with one 34) and everything was out of control again. This looked more like a tough groupx2 or groupx3 ring event...
We had ppl ready to click the 2 wind machines when necessary, so the problem wasn't coming from there.
I can confirm you dont need to go to the tower of drafting, unknown whether its a bug or not, but after of sea sales and slumber, you can go straight to getting the 2 disruptors, and then boatride
I just finished this quest today, and I did not have to go into the Tower of the Drafling to inspect anything. After completing "Of sea, Sails and Slumber", I picked up the two parts to the Frost Disruptor, and went straight to the boat ride. So, maybe they have changed this recently, but the Drafling Tower part was not necessary.
Just before my paladin Kitnip Litterflinger hit level 33 He got this quest in Zek. Even at this I'd say unless you have a good group thats higher than suggested you might have trouble getting to the necessary mobs.
Please note that the disruptors will respawn after the despawn that sometimes happens. It doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes for this to happy. Happy hunting all.
After talking to the captain on the boat a Flame Salamander and some goblins spawn. The floor of the boat also starts to set alight. We killed a couple of the goblins but then we killed the salamander shortly after the salamander went down (a matter of seconds later) the whole group was insta-killed
I completed the boat ride to Everfrost last night and it appears that I am now able to do a boat ride to Lavastorm aswell. This is a 2 in one quest opening up the boat rides to both Everfrost AND Lavastorm.
Before last night the bell to lavastorm was unclickable, after getting to and completing the everfrost boat ride the lavastorm bell now takes me to a boat ride, havent completed yet as I went in solo
The Tinmizer subquest is now built into the main quest, so you don't need to go to RV at all after completing "Of Sea, Sails, and Slumber".
Tofang, the disruptor in EL is at the Tagglefoot Farm, in the house closest to the river. Be sure and kill the halfling outside first or she'll lay into you.
Went to do the boat ride last night and everyone lvl 44 and higher (all had finished the boat) were not able to get on. my grp was 38-47, granted we prolly would have gotten killed but we wanted to try it anyways. Everyone either needed the boat or was done with the quest, did they lvl cap it now?
The one found in Zek is not by Deathfist Citidel at all, not even close...dunno why these posts say that? There is a bunch of tents surrounded by a spiked wooden wall, which is where it's found. These tents are found, when looking at the in-game map, on the other side of the rock wall east of the spiral lake.
"For this you must head back to Rivervale and enter the tower that leads into the Tower of the Drafling. You do not need access to the Tower of the Drafling, only to make it to the entrance. This is guarded by a good number of bees and bixies, you will need to fight them. This includes a large level 42 AE group and a couple of level 45 Bixie Lookouts.
After clearing them all you must examine a book on the shelf inside of the tower at -490, +23.84, +49.85. This will initiate the "Tinmizer's Astounding Frost Disruptor" sub-quest. Oh yes, we knew you wanted another quest in your journal, and now you've got it! Refer to related quests for a spoiler on this sub-quest. After you complete it then you can return to this spoiler down below. "
That entire part is false. You do not need to go anywhere near the tower of drafting. Maybe they changed? As of 1/15/05, you only need to get the 2 parts of the device from zek and EL.
Ok the one in zek you need is in a tent where the stockade is....behind the walls with like 5 tents....Its the tent by the pig. If you remember doing a prior quest for the DFC access quest (I think that is the quest) You had to talk to a orc in the same location. It is there
As I stated in my last comment, 1 is in zek but its SW of the low long bridge I described in a guarded outpost in a tent. The 2nd is in EL inside the farmhouse @ northern tip of zone.
[2nd part of quest after "seas sails and slumbers"] Go to the drafling tower(bee island) in RV or bypass this step by finding the frost disruptors. One spawns in a tent in zek, NE near citadel at the long low bridge. The other is in EL.
