You must adjust your camera angle to look up at his head, or you will not see the bubble with the quest choices.
I thought I couldn't get the quest since I kept looking at his feet and just getting the "You've very brave..." message in my text window.

This quest is given by Chief Derrog at 329, 20, 929 , a named giant in Thundering Steppes. Completing this quest will open up the Eternal Warriors (see related quests).
He asks you to kill 30 gnolls in Thundering Steppes (any type will do) and then return to him. The reward is coin and experience, but it also opens up a new quest.
