This quest is initiated by examining a Roped Staff. This item drops on monsters in Blackburrow (stalwarths and sentries confirmed).

The first order of business is to kill gnolls in Blackburrow until you receive a trident tip. After finding one you should examine the Roped Staff again.

You must then kill Sabertooth Excavators in Blackburrow until you obtain a ring. After you find one you should examine the Roped Staff again.

The final step is to kill Sabertooth Diviners until one drops a Control Mechanism. After obtaining one you should examine the Roped Staff again for your reward.
