This quest is initiated by clicking on a pile of books near the secret entrance to the library -18, 13, 46 . It calls for some ingredients for a recipe.
- Fermented Elixir (It spawn when you search the Thexian Wine Racks in basement of Captain's Room.)
- 2x Swines from the Stables.
This will spawn Ravenous Undead Dreadguard back in the courtyard. I think 5 or 6 in total.Kill them. The reward is their loot table.

I read about the Aroma of the Undead, an aromatic spell that will call forth rare undead.
I searched the wine racks of Everling for some mold of Chateau D'Morte.
I sought out the swine being kept inside the castle's pen.
I simmer the ingredients within the stove and created the aroma.I created the Aroma of the Undead and called for the ravenous undead. I then had a chance to gain their rare trinkets in battle with them.
Stage 1

Did this solo tonight. Was not expecting much as posts have been negative, but I like having a nice quest total. Had to visit wine racks twice to get Fermented Elixir to spawn. Killed the swines and the Ravenous Undead, got a level 30 Fabled shield, which will be nice for my Guardian

Worthless to do now ? In the end they did drop chest as usual but with just 1 item .. if im right this was kinda different a while back.

Oh yah, didn't read the last part about the Ravenous Undead Dreadguard spawning in the courtyard. However, it didn't spawn for me...possibly because the zone is grayed out to me and I wouldn't get loot anyway:)

Ok, this quest is definitely a waste. YOu don't get the fabled shield listed as the reward item on this site..that needs to be changed. I didn't even get any coin and maybe like 1% XP at lvl 48.

Loc for the pile of books is -20,13,50.
Wine rack is in the basement form the captains room,sometime you get a wine drink other time nothing happens.There like 5 wine rack that you can click on,if you click all of them and the mob didnt spawn come back later like 20 mins or so it will be clickable again it took me 3 times to do it.

Can someone please tell me where thexian wine racks are. Ive looked everywhere and cannot seem to locate it.
they have Nufed this really badly, did it with a group 3 weeks ago and masters everytime, did it today and absolutly nothing, nowt, not a sausage. it's just another poitless quest now :-(

The mobs are 33-34 from what I saw. We spawned them twice, the first time they dropped a wood chest, the second time they dropped nothing at all. It could have been changed with recent updates, as the reward was really too good before.

Anyone know the level of the last mobs you kill? If the reward is their loot table, and they are grey, you would get nothing other than a clear journal.

GUYS! There is a spawn time on these guys...they pop for about 2 minutes then they POOF...kill them FAST!

If the wineracks become unselectable and nothing pops, go hunt for 15-20 mins and come back. They will become clickable again. Not sure on the exact respawn on this... but have clicked these several times over the course of a night before.
Sometimes nothing will pop from em, sometimes mob will. It's pretty random.

We had a group of 5 with 4 who were still quest eligible doing this and got 2 Master Chests. In total, we got 3 Guard of Grumm, a Master Book, 3 rares and a ton of Adepts/lesser rewards.
I don't see how Money and Items rating is only a 9, the quest is a piece of cake and the loot tables are ridiculous.

OK it's folks here is the deal, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT advance this quest all together, you want as many chances to get the MASTER chest as you can get. Get each of your party members to the stove part of the quest but, one person do it. Then go kill the guy , get the loot, next guy do it, go and kill get the loot. Rinse repeate and reap the rewards!!!

I just finished this quest as a lvl 37 defiler, and I recieved no reward other than a little bit of xp. No undeads spawned, I'm assumming that my lvl was to high, but the quest was still blue to me, so i'm not positive.

By the way, I'm not sure if anyone posted, but the starter to this quest is a pile of books on the floor near the "secret" entrance in the library.

I did this quest just a few days ago and can confirm that there were 10 pieces of loot in ONE chest. 3 sheilds (that sold to the vendor for 3g 22s each), a couple adepts, 2 feysteel goblets, one engraved leather binding, and a bag of Gumm (can't remember the exact name.)
Needless to say we were all shocked. Now for some odd reason (I think someone in the group went LD), but we were able to click the wine racks twice and another elixer popped, though no one needed it.
Today we tried again, but the wine racks we not re-clickable and logging out booted us back to Nek Forest with a 17 hour timer (as the previous posters stated.)

Same problem as Tevilspek.
Clicked on wineracks and nada. Nothing spawned..
Did the relog and still nothing.

We had the unselectable winerack bug.
One of the quest holders clicked the rack and nothing spawned.
So, quest holders relogged, no change.
One by one we all relogged. No change.
Took the gamble, though knew it would kick us really, and all relogged.
All booted to Nek Forest with 18 hour retimer.
Probably did something wrong, not sure. Will try again tomorrow.

Not sure when you saw the patch updates Lyrus but my group and I did this three days ago (3/18/2005) and we got the final mob group to spawn once for each member of the group and we got a TON of items for each kill (5-7 items average). By far the best quest reward yet and I highly reccommend everyone doing this. So as of 3/18/2005 the quest was still at its "Excellent" rating.

Recent patches have made it so the mobs that spawn at the end of the quest only spawn once per zone in, to prevent massive amounts of the items from rolling in. Also the chests have had the amount of loot toned down as well, where as before it was an average of 5 items per chest, now it's down to 2-3 items per chest.

I've done about 300 quests through 37 levels and this is, by far, the best reward for any quest so far besides the heritage quests.
I did this in a group of 5 and we all had the quest. What makes it even better is that each person can complete it separately, so we just gave the chest to whovever completed it at the time. My chest contained 5 adepts, 2 of the rare shields, and 1 normal shield. The worst chest in my group got 3 adepts and 3 shields.
Definately worth doing.

i have accessed library by killing sisters and cannot find quest in library...must i do the boars head quest if i can already get in?

When checking the wine racks for the Elixer, if he does not spawn, have the person who is doing the quest (or people) camp and relog. The racks will then all be clickable again. Repeat as needed until you get the spawn. Nasty bug, but we figured this out last night and it worked just fine.
Loot is dropped off the mob or rather the chest the mob drops after they all die.
We did this last night with 5 people. We were able to spawn the skeletons 5 times in a row and had around 20-25 loots in about 10 minutes. Would of had more but when I spawned the mobs the last one left at the end poofed or was under the floor or something because we never saw a chest.
Takes a little work to get the key for the library but its definitely worth it.
Had 3 of the nice shields drop, 4 of the weak shields, and the rest adept I's and rare harvest drops.

The missing mob name above that spawns from the wine racks is a fermented elixir.

Ok went back again tonight. VERIFIED that you can spawn these mobs numerous times per instance. This time we got 3 metal chests and one wooden one. 3-7 loots per crack this time, 3 guards of grumm out of 4 chests. Also, if you are not fast enough to pull them, they will despawn in under a minute apparantly(have done this for us twice now), so watch out. If you are doing this quest be fast so you don't miss out.

hmm Ive had grp members get quest and spawn mobs multiple times for multiple chests drops. Just when it comes to last part have peole individually click stove then kill skelly's, stove - skelly's etc. just had problems a few times spawning the goo from wine racks, /shrug

Yesterday we spawned the skeletons 6 times in a row in the same instance. Each time got a metal chest with 5-8 loots. You just get one person to inspect the stove while someone waits outside courtyard for pull. Wash, rinse, repeat for the whole group.
Items altogether were about 8+ Avrok Shields, 4 Guards of Grumm, a Rough Opal substitute (tier 4 rare) and a TON of adepts. There may have been a thing or two I am leaving out but that is what I KNOW we got. The amount of loot our party got from doing this quest was simply unbelievable.

Ive lead multiple guildies through the castle quests, and on 2 different ocassions Ive had problems where people have searched wine racks and the goo blob thing didn't spawn, any ideas on what went wrong? Ive done it alot of times now, and can't seem to figure out what went wrong on those fews attempts?

You can only spawn this encounter once per instance in case your whole group is doing this.

Did the quest last night. Got the Guard of Grumm, 3x Avrok Shields, and three tier4 adept I spells. Came off a big iron chest when the dragoons went down. Because it was a chest that dropped when the mobs were killed in the courtyard, it put the loot in lotto mode - but the group knew in advance I was after this shield and gave it to me. Best forewarn your group before the chest drops that a whole lotta loot might be contained therein.

Need to do the boars head quest to get a key to the barracks. Then search the chest in the barracks to get a new quest, taking the red eye back to the boar, this nets you the key to the library.
You may be able to skip this by taking the exit balcony exit at the dining hall(2nd floor one) and walking around, I didn't test this.
Anyway, anyone know where the wine stacks are? I ran around looking for them for awhile with no luck. Checked the dining hall upstairs and the servants dining hall and adjacent kitchen, no luck.

You need to do The Boar's Head quest to get the Library key.

How do you gain accss to the library in Nek. It's locked and you need to find a key or something, dont you?
