I just completed this quest and can confirm the spinneret will drop off a mountain crawler.

The spinneret is a body drop off of one of the spiders in the Moors. Mountain spiders seem to work ok, since mine dropped off of one. At no point did I get an "item not found" message.

My quest asks for an intact spinneret from ruin crawlers. I did not get a "No quest item found" message.
