This quest is initaited by reading a tome which can be purchased from Distressed Merchants after you rescue them. You must catalog the following monsters:
- Defiled Keeper (Stormhold)
- Fetid Goo (Stormhold)
- Dirt Crawler (found on the third level of Stormhold, in a dead end near the Armory. )
- Guardian Writ (Stormhold)
- Sealed Strongbox (Stormhold)
- Feign Zombie (Stormhold)
- Bone Blood Imp (Stormhold at +64, -64, -61 ) This is on the 4th level down behind the jail.
- Life Leech (Stormhold)
- Blighted Shopkeeper (Fallen Gate)
- Mindless Invader (Fallen Gate)
- Hungry Feaster (Fallen Gate, is placeholder for Gurmoz the Hungry)
- Tormented Steelworker (Fallen Gate)
- Tormented Noble (Fallen Gate, in a three story house in Little Neriak at 196.86, 28.55, -115.56 )
- Blighted Warlord (Fallen Gate) This is placeholder for Warlord Zumok.

I am trying to catalog some creatures I read about in the Halls of the Dead creature guide. When I'm not busy cataloging, I can store the book in my house to show off my culture and learning.
I have located all of the creatures I was looking for.I've successfully catalogued all the creatures in the Halls of the Dead creature guide.

I had difficulties finding two mobs in Stormhold:
Dirt crawler (not dust crawler) - found on the third level of Stormhold, in a dead end near the Armory.
Bone blood imp - found on the fourth level of Stormhold.

The noble is now in the three story house in 'Little Nerik'. I Don't have a loc for you...sorry.

I'm still in search of the Tormented Noble. Has anyone seen one recently? According to the loc, the Noble should be found in the room with the bookcase, but after hours of killing spawns in that room, I've yet to see one.

Bone Blood Imp is found on the lowest level of Stormhold. Fastest way to get there is to jump down the well. There was one bone blood imp standing stationary at 64, -64, -61 and one wandering up and down the hall past this point. Level 27 ^^^ and many things of similar levels in the halls around, so bring friends if you're not high level.

Four mindless invaders spawn at 18.73, 6.81, -136.56. I was in Fallen Gate for HOURS before they showed up.

found "a tormented noble" at fallen gate - little neriak - 2nd floor of the house - loc 192/29/-144.

Grumoz the Hungry and a hungry feaster are placeholders for each other (which you may have guessed, since they are the only mobs with "the hungry" in their names).

I was working on this quest and have gotten it down the just needing to catalog "a hungry feaster" and I can't find it ANYWHERE in Fallen Gate. I'm really frustrated. I've found anguished feasters, but just can't find any hungry ones. *Sigh* There is a named mob here in the feasting room named Gurmoz the Hungry. Tried cataloging him didn't work. Tried killing him maybe a Hungry feaster would pop as a place holder for him. No luck. Killed several "an anguished feasters"... STILL no luck. I would appreciate it if anyone could PLEASE tell me where this Hungry feaster while I still have hair left. Thank you :)

To catalogue the vile shrillers (or anything else that's stuck in a wall, etc) use an area attack, immediately stop attacking and step back. The creature will follow you, freeing itself. Then catalogue quickly and finish it off.

Went to Fallen gate at lvl 31 because I was tired of having this quest in my journal. I knew it required an access quest but silly me went to the the zone first. Low and behold I didn't need to do the access quest. I guess you're granted access automatically after you reach a certain level, just like Zek and EL. Everything in the zone was grey...and blood bone imps in SH were green.

You can also gain access to FG by killing Kizdean Gix (1130, -36, -330) in the commonlands. He will drop a key in a chest that gives you access.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe he is lvl 18^^. It's been awhile since I fought him and got the key, so I don't really remember.

I found the vile shrillers in pairs in the places named, but while one was stuck the other was free to catalogue... maybe poking them a bit helps?

The vile shrillers I found spawn in Fallen Gate at 93.54, 6.43, -69.34 and at 93.63, 7.07, and -41.10. Good luck cataloging them, though. I couldn't because they are wedged in rocks. Not sure how to fix this problem, or if the zone just needs to be reset.

I searched from the entrance of FG to the vault at the bottom and couldnt find a single vile shriller. Where the hell are these now? They use to be all over but now all I see are cursed shrillers and dread shrillers.

Did this quest tonight and found it was remarkably easier than I thought it would be.
Footnote to all Qeynos-based characters, you'll need to get access to Fallen Gate before you can get in. This requires you to sneak in to Freeport using a pretty convoluted path. I entered through the Graveyard, then went to the Stonestair Byway, and from there a quick trot over to the Thieves Way. Once there you'll have access to pretty much all of Freeport via a system of sewers. To start the access quest go to North Freeport, and near the exit is a Dark Elf named Kanos X'Aphon. Make sure you stand back a distance before you hail him or he won't deal with you. Do everything he says (which basically involves a whole lot of running back and forth between NFP and Yapper's Maze) and you'll get access.
Back to the quest. The Halfling Zombie Rogue can be found wandering the battlements on top of First Gate. Just go up and you'll see him. I had no trouble finding any of the other mobs, save for the Boneblood Imp. This surprisingly heinous mob is found in Stormhold by going down the well on the first level (access to this area can be found in a offset area near the chessboard room where Lord Androus spawns). You'll either require a good group to find one (I saw one my entire time down there) or a good level 40 friend to gray the zone out for you.
I completed this quest at level 26, but like Baanthos says in earlier post it would be much easier at level 27; most of the mobs in Fallen Gate are greyed out at that level whereas I still came across a few greens. Total time to complete was about 4 1/2 hours, 2 of which were spent getting access to Fallen Gate.

I received and finished this quest last night. The Gatehouse Defender wasn't on my list, but it did have a blighted patron. Everything conned grey with the exception of the feign zombie and bone blood imp. Since Im a ranger, all I needed to do was sneak in, hit catalogue, then use escape. Pretty simple, and received 16% xp and book at level 27.

Lost all my ctalogs for mobs in SH after patch, and my list changed to the one for SH and fallen gate. Finished today and got 10% at lvl 29 plus book.

Still would like to know about the Defiled gatekeeper. Have camped and killed everything at First gate on top and below and still no luck after 1 week of this.
Any Ideas or is there another location where this mob is?

The Halfling Zombie Rogue is usually the mob that wanders up and down the stairs of The First Gate.

The very first gate you too, take a left, and then up the stairs. The Halfling Zombie Rogue wonders on top and on the stairs or at the bottom of them.

Quest targets were modified in the big patch. Iron Soldier, Death Plasm, Bygone Brute, Mimic and Gatehouse Guardian are no longer required. The revised list is:

Found the Gatehouse Guardian!
spawn on the top lev of the First Gate in the back right hand corner...they gaurd the Commander...took three clearing for them to pop...tested it twice...hope it help you all

Some of the monstres listed here dont seem to match up tthe quest I recieved while in Commonlands, I'm unsure if it vaires where you recieved the quest but I know a monster called "Gatehouse Defender" is on my list and many others and there is no solid info on this creature at all. The Bygone Brute was not on my list but the rest seems accurate.
