After the rewamp of Lavastorm on April 1st 2009 Magolemus is no longer epic. He is just a regular heroic level 50^^^. Soloed him as 68 Fury today without even having to heal myself.
He is definitely still epic x2, level 50. I thought to try soloing him at level 75, and I was doing OK, if very slow, until he hit his knockback ... had me to 1% health, and the next hit killed me. Seems agreat waste having to gather a group or even a raid for such an old quest, but hey, that's how it goes this time around.

The Magolemus DOES still despawn after 15 minutes. Happened to me twice today, once when he was 5% from death. Whoever said that he doesn't despawn anymore is incorrect.
Simple Steps to kill Efreeti Lord Djarn in Bastion of Flames for Saving Soles HQ
1) Single group enters Bastion of Flames. You are in a bowl with 4 empty stands in lava outside the bowl 2) Mentor down if needed to allow anyone to get credit that might be lower. 3) Press button on stand in bowl 4) Bottles appear on 4 stands outside bowl 5) Group stands on rim near one bottle. Note not on the stands! 6) Open one bottle and quickly fight the mob that appears witout moving as lava fills center bowl. 7) Do each of the 4 bottles same way. 8) A stand appears in center with bottle. 9) All mount stand 10) open bottle 11) kill boss that appears as center fills with lava. Do not move while fighting. 12) stay on stand and press button to raise it up to exit.
I got mine in about 20 kills as well .. the one that dropped the key was the farthest to the left as you come into the round lava bowl area (with the gate you have to click to get it to rise) ... I have heard others say that the giants around this round bowl area (just before you head down to the bottom level of solusek (with the red see-through bridges) and down the corridor from the giant Speaker's room) is the area where the key drops the most.
The - Number four is at Buglegreeder (-440, -99, 119) co-ordinate is wrong. That is the co-ordinate for the spire not the update. My partner and I have been around this area for over a 1/2 hour using that co-ordinate and it's wrong. Please re-check
Well I tried to continue this today and the Magolemus despawned *while* I was actually fighting him - not amused since he was nearly dead too! So he obviously does still despawn after 15mins regardless of whether engaged or not. He's not repopped yet for me to see if he still becomes attackable on approach.

This quest is not soloable even at 70. Mobs disappear almost instantly if you are standing on top of them and even if you manage to kill them all the bottle in the center of the room is impossible to get to from the outer ring.
A great way to make killing Efreeti Lord Djarn is to stay on the wall and walk the wall to each bottle since its hard to not move we died numerous time in the lave and im not sure if we even moved. so simply walk around its not buggy then at the end position group near the last spawn platform then send tank to spawn him from last bottle in the middle of the floor. from here make sure tank stands on the Efreeti Lord Djarn's platform for lava will disapear again.
For those of you whom are out of range of this quests' level, and are just doing it for the Status, this is a tip for you.
The "Side of bottle" tip is best performed with a seoond person within the zone- one to remain motionless in the center and one who does the killing. When the final platform comes down, it is in the center- thus impossible for the person on the outer ring to get to due to the lava between the outer edge and the middle. Thus the second player's role, to open the bottle so the final named can be pulled and killed.
A tip for bastion of flames - Just stand on the SIDE of the bottle to kill the djinn. You can activate all 4 bottles without ever leaving the safety of the side of the bottle.
Devistation: "Does anyone know roughly how long the ghost stands there after the mag is down? "
Just killed him today.. the ghost only stood there for a max of 50 sec. just enough time for a guildie to log off bring on another alt that was camped right there hail it after which it immediately despawned.
Finished the other night. Pretty much as the spoiler describes. One thing...please edit the spoiler regarding Bastion of Flames and Sol Eye. Be sure to activate the one-way portal in Sol Eye to go from the top down to the giants. And that will put you on the same lvl as Bastion of Flames zone-in, which no longer requires an access quest. But it does have an 18 hour success lockout. A guildie missed completing this quest because of the lockout.
The whole group needs to be on the same small platform with the bottle. Someone rubs it, fight the npc there and do not move. Right at the end of the fight, all must jump to the ring that isn't covered in lava..it is gold color. Then when things reset, you go to another small platform that has the bottle. The first time I jumped on the small platform then jumped off to the middle and died. The second time I didn't move at all once I got onto the platform and the npc died..I stayed and nothing happened so I ended up dying because..umm..not gonna stay there 30 mins to find out lol.
Found all this out after 4 deaths. Hope that helps.
Hermitone, I died a few times before I was told a couple things that helped. Don't use range or throwing weapons to engage. Wherever you are when you click the bottle to release the lord stay there. Do not move yourself. Use your weapons and spells which causes you to jump around but don't move yourself around. You will be standing on Lava which goes away at the end of each encounter. Once I did this I knocked them all out easily.
Looking for help after many, many deaths in the Bastion of Flames, always from the lava. So far, all advice has failed -- I dont move and that works fine for 1-3 of the Efreet nameds, but somewhere along the way while doing the exact same thing (that works and doesn't somewhat randomly), without moving, I suddenly die from the lava. Any hints? Really tired of dying and making the big trek each time pointlessly ...
Manow, i found that to disable the 5th and final spire you have to reboot, start up eq2, send gold 100 or more (the more the better chance of disabling the spire) ingame to FatFreddy on Oasis. He will then mail you a Spire Disabler. Once received you then need to camp, log back in, camp to desktop and reboot. Finally you will activate the item and win the game! Congratulations!
Confirming that killing Magolemus is not required. Just have to hail the ghost that spawns after Magolemus is dead. I watched another group kill him then hailed the ghost that spawned and got the update.
I went to kill Mag tonight and found a high level group already in progress. I stuck around to watch and found that after the kill I could hail the NPC and got updated for quest.
Was in the Temple of Sol Ro yesterday, and in Tazgar's room. The dragon is not always there, and also does not aggro initially. However, if you right click on him, the option to "pluck a scale" from the dragon becomes available. If you do this, as I did, the dragon becomes targettable (see: aggro) and is lvl 70 epic x 4. Thankfully, as a necro, I had the good sense to feign dead. Afterwards, he remained aggressive, but despawned just a few minutes later. Not sure if pucking that scale may be a requirement for something else eventually...
Just to highlight and expand upon what Redbeard of Veritas said a while back...
When you enter the Bastion of Flames, you find yourself in a small round room, standing in a sort of shallow bowl-type platform. In the middle of the platform is a small disc of glass that's raised slightly higher than the rest. It's hard to see unless you bring your camera angle down.
Press the button in front of you and 4 bottles appear, on 4 little platforms spaced around the room.
This is where everybody in the group needs to position themselves on the central raised glass platform in the exact middle of the room.
One person should go up to one bottle at a time, and rub the bottle. You have about 2 seconds to get back to join your group in the center, before an efreeti will appear.
Once the efreeti appears, you MUST NOT MOVE or you will immediately die and be kicked out of the zone. Rotating on the spot is ok, but do not move from the position you were in when the efreeti appeared. As you fight, you'll see the shallow basin you are standing in begins to fill with lava. The lava level will slowly rise throughout the fight. As long as you don't move and you kill the efreeti before the lava gets too high, it won't harm you.
Note: do NOT try to stand on the platform that the bottles are on. These will dematerialize the instant the efreeti dies, dropping you into the lava.
Once all 4 efreetis have died, another platform will descend in the middle of where you are standing with a bigger bottle on it. This will release the final named you need to fight. You can actually stand on this platform during the fight if you wish - it's the lift that will take you out of the zone afterwards, if you win. If you don't hop on the platform, however, take care positioning the group around it as people on opposite sides of the platform may not be able to cast on each other. If your healer ends up on the opposite side from your tank it could be fatal.
You don't need to fight the summoned flares that spawn when you talk to Tazgar. If you are 57+, they won't even aggro on you, and you can keep talking to Tazgar. You could probably have someone not in your group pull them away so you can talk to Tazgar.
Just so you all know, cause I did not, I brought a raid for my guild, after I did the SS HQ once. well needless to say wasted some peopels time since last kill of djinn lord will let raid enter, but to seperate zones and the other grousp were not rerady for fight by selves, no MTs and such. :P\ Andorseclez
The new dragon is for one of the new heritage quest (A Thorn of Old). He falls asleep and then you have to pluck a scale from him. So should be non aggro most of the time if not all the time.
Confirmed there is a Level 70^^^ Heroic Dragon in the room where Tazgar is located and he was not frendly.
If you are heading to that room from the Top entrance of the temple he is sitting right in the center of the two entrances to Tazgars room at the base of the stairs.
We came in the back way to get the final update. From outside of Soluseks Eye.
From the back door at the end of the tunnel take the left hall and follow it to the the door on your right. (Left, Right, Door on the Right)
You will be able to enter and speak with Tazgar (his buddies are all there) And you will see the Big Red lvl 70^^^ Heroic Dragon on the other side of the room his back to you.
Have pitty on all the adventurers who dont read this and use the front door to get there.
BEWARE! After the expansion was released on 2/21, there is now a dragon in Tazgar's room that is red ^^^ to a level 60 and agros the second you step in from the room. I didn't get to see much of him as he one-hit me. It may be possible to come in from the other side (coming from sol's eye) and tagg Tazgar, but I've not yet tried that.
Additional info: For the Spire that is in the Goblin area we had a 48 ^^^ Epic X 2 pop on us (02/19/06) after we cleared the Goblins at that spire. I have been to that spire 4 times now and only once did the Epic pop there.
No one seems to be real clear on this matter so I wanted to make it Clear. The Giants as well as the Bastion of Flames are on the 5th level of Solusek’s Eye. The Book for the access quest to BoF is on the 6th level (you will also find this is the place for the last set of Named for the LLL HQ) I strongly recommend you double up on your HQ’s, as Both SS & LLL are extremely long HQ’s.
From the Gnome areas just past the zone in you want to take the Elevator to Sub level 3 (-320.49, -40.30, -151.75) There are Efreeti there and they Agro from an unusually long distance away (if you see Goblins you are heading the Wrong way) Then Head to Sub level 4 we went to the closest one on the map (-270.73, -219.93, -8.29) there are two paths to get to sub-level 5 either will do.
Once your in sub level 4 you will cross a bridge be mindful of the mobs below a Gollum under each end of the bridge and Fire Bats all along the way, they will attack you. At the end of the tunnel –3.65, -327.95, 204.50 you will find sub level 5.
In the 1st room there are Giants, and on both sides of the room are two each invisible fire mobs that agro when you get close. (This room also is the location of the chest and the Speaker for LLL). We did not get the key from this giants in this room but they do have a chance to give the update we got our update in the tunnel just past the room (about the 7th Giant we killed)
Once you get the key I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you to be on the Last part of LLL as you can get the chest update and all the named you need for the last part as this is the End Zone for that HQ.
The book for the Bastion of Flames Access quest is on the 6th level follow the tunnel to the Lava room and make a right killing giants along the way to a door thru that door and make a right all the way to the end is the way to the 6th level –50.11, -380.84, 79.83(You will also pass the castigator’s room along the way)
The Book is on a table at –118.86, -506.19, 197.95
Confirmed. We went close to Magolemus, he became aggroable, wait for some help, and then 1 guy told, he didnt touch the last spire. Went back, touch, jump into lava, teleport up, start fight, when Mago was about 40% HP he despawns. In middle of the fight!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh....
**Info to Add to the Walk Through** The PH for the Bait (Fish) spawns 6 minutes after the last is killed. Spawns in the around the following: /waypoint -176, -138, +544
this is in the water, almost under the dock/walkway
It is given by Charly Ashlash in Lavastorm. He roams the goblin area near -323, -130, 355 . You must speak the goblin tongue to receive this quest. See related quests for information on how to learn goblin.
Before Charly will deal with you he asks you to destroy some monsters in Lavastorm. You must slay:
20 Drakes - Volcanu and the lizards near the entrance both give credit here.
After doing this return to him. He will give you an Old Worn Right Boot. Examine the boot and the quest will update.
You must find the corpse of a smelly fish to bait "The Big Squiggly". The fish it is referring to is a level 47 solo fish named Foulgill the Rotten who spawns near the docks. His placeholder is a slightly smelly fish that spawns at -176, -138, 544 and has a 6 minute spawn time, in the water just off the docks. Either Foulgill or his placeholder will give you the bait and update this step.
After killing the fish you will be given 2 hours to bait the trap for "The Big Squiggly". This trap is a bit deeper in the zone where a named goblin spawns but not very deep. ( -566.25, -112.93, 410.23 ) It will look like a pile of underbrush. Have everyone right click and bait the trap and a hungry goblin will run up to the trap.
Immediately following this the Big Squiggly will spawn and attack the group. He is level 47 ^^. He hits quite hard and has an AE that has a DoT of around 50 dmg, We suggest taking a full group. After killing him you will receive the right boot.
The next step is to find an Efreeti to make sure the boots are truly Efreeti made. The Efreeti your looking for is Tazgar in the Temple of Solusek Ro in Lavastorm. When you speak to him 4 mobs will spawn. Kill them and speak to him again.
EDITOR'S NOTE: As of LU20 a dragon can sometimes spawn in Tazgar's room. We are not sure if this will stay or be moved.
He will then send you to Solusek's Eye to kill fire giants until you receive a key. This is a semi-rare auto-updating drop. The giants are in deep. They are all over the place on Level Five
Once you have the key you use it to disable the spires in Lavstorm. They are located at:
Number one is in the goblins area near the first hill and it's guarded sometimes by four epic gobs ( -634, -111, 301 ).
Number two is just past the temple on the way to Sol Eye, in a pit guarded by a bunch of drakes. Easy to find if you just hang a right and hold the wall upon exiting Temple area ( 120, -5, -465 ).
Number three is up the final summit past the golems, right next to the gate that leads you to the FGs guarding Sol Eye door ( -115, 19, 75 ).
Number four is at Bunglegreeder ( -439.60, -99.46, 124.12 ).
Number five is in the middle of the lava fields area just before the summit to the temple ( -567, -28, -410 ).
It's probably a good idea to finish with number three, since that's closest to The Magolemus.
Once the spires have been disabled you must defeat The Magolemus. This is a level 50 ^^^ mob who is located outside of Solusek's Eye in Lavastorm. He will not become targetable until after the spires are disabled. He will despawn 15 minutes after engaged and his respawn is 2 hours, so you may need to bring plenty of DPS with you! He procs a single target knockback on your main tank, so be sure to have his back to a wall.
NOTE! The Magolemus IS Level 50 Heroic ^^^ and is considered a giant. With the revamp of Lavastorm, he is no longer epic.
After killing him A Projection of Najena will spawn, and you must engage her in conversation. You must then reactivate the spires that you disabled earlier. After reactivating them you need to return to speak to Tazgar.
You must then kill Efreeti Lord Djarn. He is located in the Bastion of Flames. This is an access zone which is entered through Solusek's Eye quest by the name of The Efreeti Bastion (see related quests).
After killing Efreeti Lord Djarn you can return to Tazgar for your reward.
