This quest is part of the Forest Ruins progressional series. It is given by Acting Lieutenant Germain 900, 0, -576 after you complete the Clearing Remmy's Name quest, or after you are sent to Germain by one of several racial quest line NPC's.

You must first gather a pack ( 1119,-23, -660 ) on the edge of the pond and examine it in your inventory. You must then collect a leaf sample from one of the bushes 1169, 0, -742 . This is found straight North from the backpack. You will see soft colored lights gleaming from a spot.

Finally, return to Germain to open up the Favors quest.

Lieutenant Germain of the Qeynos Guard has asked for my help. A scout, Del Varun, has not reported back and Germain is concerned. His last task put him on the western end of the ruins, near the pond.

Stage 1

Lieutenant Germain has asked that I search for Del Varun, a scout assigned to the Forest Ruins.

Start:	I need to check west of the ruins for any sign of Del Varun. He was supposed to be near the pond on the western end of the ruins.
Complete:	I have found Del Varun's pack.

Start:	I should see what I can find in Del Varun's pack.
Complete:	I have read Del Varun's log.

Start:	I should investigate the strange plants north of the pond that Del Varun spoke of.
Complete:	I witnessed the strange plants that Del Varun spoke of. I collected a leaf sample from one of them.

Start:	I should take this plant sample back to Lieutenant Germain.
Complete:	I have given Germain the plant sample.

I found Del Varun's satchel and log. The log led me to a strange phenomenon north of the pond on the western side of the ruins.

I found Del Varun's satchel. In it there was a log that detailed a strange area north of the pond near where Del Varun was. At this location there were some plants shrouded by a strange, colorful aura.
